The sting of the Edmond Open semi-finals loss was still on the minds of the Santa Fe players as they walked around school today. Hard to focus on final exam reviews, when the Huskies... a familiar Edmond rival... was coming to the Santa Fe gymnasium tonight.

It was a second half 45 to 20 scoring that righted the ship to a 71-64 win over the Edmond North Huskies. Not exactly sure what head coach Troy Lallemand said to his team in the locker room at halftime, but the message was heard loud and clear.

Senior Donovan Vickers scored 16 of his team-high 20 points in the second half which fueled the wolves and made the student section roar. Three other Santa Fe players scored in double figures: sophomore Michael Reeves, who battled foul trouble, scored 13 points, JVon Hutchinson and Colby Onyekuru both score 12 points each.

Edmond North junior Abraham Aghasedo, who played for Santa Fe last season, scored 20 points against his former team.

The wolves will have a few days to relish the win before they travel down the turnpike to Yukon High School and face the Millers on Friday night.

The Lady Wolves faced the newly named #1 ranked team in class 6A, before the boys game. Coach Paul Bass and his team had a strong first half of limiting the Edmond North offensive rebounds and second chance opportunities, but in the end, the Lady Huskies finished a strong second half and defeated Santa Fe 65-40.

Seniors Ahoneste Walker and Kaylee Nero both scored 10 points a piece for the Lady Wolves and Shakira Patterson and Jayda Holiman both came off the bench and scored 6 and 5 points each. Brooklyn Long got the start and chipped in 6 points of her own, and was a vital part of the team's defensive plan.

The ladies look to take on Yukon on Friday night before the 2 week Christmas break.
