EDMOND — Edmond Santa Fe's two-back system is quickly becoming a one-man show.

Senior running back Mbari Snoddy insists he isn't pushing for that. After all, his friend Kameron Johnson shares carries.

It's still becoming close to impossible for coach Kyle White to take Snoddy off the field.

Snoddy continued his red-hot start to the season with three more touchdowns and 177 rushing yards Thursday night in the Wolves' 38-21 win over Deer Creek at Santa Fe's stadium.

Snoddy, who is 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, now has nine touchdowns in three games — seven rushing and two through the air.

“We've always played two tailbacks, and he's got that hot of a hand,” White said. “It's hard to take him off of the field. While he has the hot hand we're going to continue to give him the ball and find different ways."

Friday night, Snoddy scored all three on the ground on runs of 11, 1 and 19 yards. He also remained in the game as a receiver when Johnson lined up in the backfield and caught three passes for 21 yards.

He also carried the ball 28 times, easily the most of any player on the night.

“There's nothing I can't do without my linemen,” Snoddy said. “They make it so easy for me. The hole is wide open every time. I just do what a running back's supposed to do and get through the hole. I do what I have to do.”

Snoddy's performance was the brightest for Santa Fe's near flawless offensive night.

The Wolves (2-1) scored touchdowns each of their four first-half possessions. Snoddy scored twice, and quarterback Kanan Hansen scored on a pair of 1-yard runs.

Hansen finished the night 25 of 33 for 212 yards, and he rushed for 52 more. In the first half, he was nearly perfect. He completed 17 of 21 passes for 155 yards. Snoddy had just 69 yards in the first half, but he quickly became the closer with 108 in the final half.

“When those two are playing good and receivers are catching the football — knock on wood — we're hard to defend at that point,” White said.

Deer Creek (1-1) battled, getting a 97-yard kick return for a score from Dylan Diaz. Quarterback Hunter Freese and receiver Logan Huslig also connected for two scores.

But its defense had little answer for Snoddy's red-hot start to the year.

“I never really imagined a season like this or anything,” Snoddy said. “I truly believe if I stay humble, keep my team behind me and stay behind my linemen I'm going to be all right.”
