YUKON — Every Edmond Santa Fe player inked their wrists with the name of a family member before Friday's game at Yukon.

It may not have been the sole reason to keep the Wolves' season alive, but it certainly didn't hurt.

“It was just a reminder we have a tough couple weeks coming up,” senior running back Mbari Snoddy said. “Some people like to check out early. Coach (Kyle White) just needed to give us a little reminder to stay together and to fight.”

With his mother's name on his wrist, Snoddy totaled 132 yards and two scores, and the Wolves came up with three turnovers, including a key fourth-down stop, to secure a 17-10 win and clinch a playoff berth.

“It means something to our kids. It's important to them,” said White, whose team was outscored 116-42 in losses to Broken Arrow and Westmoore. “They were embarrassed, coaches were embarrassed by the way we played the last two weeks. They wanted to make it right.”

With temperatures dipping into the high 30s, Friday marked a classic throwback, low-scoring football game.

Yukon controlled it early, using its triple-option attack to rush 54 times for 249 yards. But a flurry of unforced errors slowly let the game slip away.

The Millers attempted just three passes, with two resulting in interceptions near the red zone. A third turnover — a fumble on an errant pitch at their own 1-yard line — gave Snoddy an easy touchdown run before halftime. Yukon also had a late blocked field goal negated by penalty.

Snoddy provided the dagger early in the fourth quarter with a 9-yard touchdown after Edmond Santa Fe converted a third-and-17 and fourth-and-8 from its own side of the 50.
