MOORE — Scott Pfieffer could not be stopped.
It became apparent on the opening drive when the junior quarterback led Edmond Santa Fe 63 yards down the field and was ready to punch it in.
With just two more yards to go, Pfieffer received the snap and threw the ball to the corner of the endzone and watched as the junior All-American receiver Talyn Shettron reeled it in. The pair connected on a 2-yard touchdown for the first score of the game.
The touchdown would be one of many for the Wolves as Edmond Santa Fe routed Westmoore 69-14 on Saturday afternoon in a game that lasted over three hours.
Pfieffer completed 12 of 17 passes for 163 yards and four touchdowns.
“He’s doing a great job for us,” Edmond Santa Fe coach Kyle White said about Pfieffer. “He’s grown up every game, making the right reads and throwing nice balls and he just gets better every week.”
It wasn’t just Pfieffer who had a big game for Edmond Santa Fe. The Wolves saw production from many different players. Senior running back Ethane Hyche finished the game with three touchdowns, including a 63-yarder.
Running backs, Micah Snoddy and Dustin Teupell also found their way into the endzone.
On special teams, Shettron returned a 92-yard kickoff and Cadan Peters blocked a punt, which led to another Pfieffer touchdown pass.
Defensively, Edmond Santa Fe held Westmoore to just 14 points. Gavin Duverger and James Burnett, who was No. 20 on The Oklahoman’s Super 30 list of top recruits, both intercepted passes.
It was an all-around performance White was pleased to see.
“I thought in all three phases our kids played well, hard and together,” White said. “I was excited to see their energy and their effort to play for each other. Just overall they put the gameplan in play and did a great job so that was nice to see.”
Edmond Santa Fe held Westmoore to just 55 yards rushing on 27 carries. White said the collective performance the Wolves put together defensively will give them a boost heading into next week as they take on Yukon, who excels in the run game.
