GIRLS EDGE OUT THE ANTLERS TO TAKE 3RD PLACE IN CONFERENCE

Girls edge out the Antlers to take 3rd place in Conference

Santa Fe Girls Tennis finished 3rd in the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Tournament, Saturday April 15th. The Lady Wolves won all first round matches with 2 Singles Alyssa Wilkinson andthe 2 Doubles team of Darcy Kojnik and Lanie Parks leading the way with both lines making the semi finals.

5th seed Kojnik and Parks knocked off Mustang in the first round and upset the 4th seeded Deer Creek team to advance to the semifinals, before losing to the 1 seed Edmond North. In the 3rd place match, the Santa Fe duo knocked off the 2nd seed Edmond Memorial team to claim the bronze medal for a team high 9 team points.

6th seed 2 Singles Alyssa Wilkinson beat Norman in the first round before upsetting the 3rd seed Mustang to advance to the semi finals before losing to 2nd seed Stillwater. Alyssa finished 4th in the Conference to earn 8 team points.

#1 Doubles team of Na'ilah Salim and Dillan Shipp started the day off well, beating Norman North in the first round, before losing to the Senior #1 Doubles team from Memorial, who are a heavy favorite to win state. The duo bounced back after a tough 3rd round loss to Moore to beat a tough Yukon team 6-3, 6-3 for 7th place and 5 team points

#1 Singles Lana Doughan toughed out a painful case of shin splints to get 6th place in the conference, outperforming her 7th seeding in the tournament. Lana had wins against Edmond Memorial and the 6th seed Moore player, earning 6 teams points in the gutsy performance in the top line of the tournament.

A true team performance, the Lady Wolves beat out Deer Creek by 1 point to earn 3rd in the Conference, giving the team a boost for Regional and State.
