Santa Fe’s lady wolves volleyball team faces off against the Jenks Trojans on Oct. 24 in a pivotal match for a shot at the state title.

Ranked No. 14 in Oklahoma, the lady wolves finished their regular season with 17 wins. Heading into the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) 5A/6A regional tournament, the team warms up to face Jenks, ranked No. 7.

“The girls are ready and have done everything they need to do to get to this point,” varsity coach Drew Mccarty said. “Now we get to show it.”

Santa Fe students turned out in full force to support the Lady Wolves, dressed head-to-toe in white for the game’s ‘white-out’ theme. The crowd was loud, energetic, and passionate fueling the intensity on the court.

“It was very hype in the student section,” senior Kylie Salameh said. “We were all coming up with new chants and having so much fun.”

The first set was a nail-biter, with Santa Fe narrowly beating out Jenks, 27-25. Senior Ana Rice and sophomore Samaria Kinyanjui had some notable plays by setting up several key blocks. The entire team hustled across the floor, battling with Jenks’s offense.

Jenks rallied in the next 3 sets despite the Lady Wolves’ relentless effort.
