At the EPS Board Meeting on December 9, 2024, Mike Moreno was announced and approved to be the new head softball coach at Santa Fe High School.
Moreno is coming from Fletcher, OK where he has served at the head coach (fast-pitch and slow-pitch) teams) and Athletic Director. He led the Wildcat softball team to four district championships, and has most recently earned the Southern Plains Conference Coach of the Year.
Coach Moreno has called southwest Oklahoma 'home' for the last 20 years. After graduating from Mangum High School, he served in the Army from 2000 to 2007, spending a year in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
After fulfilling his military duties, he returned to Lawton and began his undergraduate degree at Cameron University. While attending Cameron, he worked at MacArthur Middle school, where he met the love his life, Meagan Moreno. Mike and Meagan were married in 2017 and currently have one daughter, and two grandsons.
Moreno began his coaching career while at MacArthur, and after two years at Mac, he went on to became the head baseball coach at Central Middle School in Lawton. Upon graduation from Cameron University, he accepted the head softball position at Fletcher High School in the fall of 2016.
The last two years he has been the head coach of the HSA 18U travel ball team based out of Maysville, OK. This team placed at several tournaments thought the state, and earned a third place finish at the Gulf Shores National Tournament in 2024. He has also coached five, Region 7 Small West “All-Region” players, and has assisted multiple athletes on their journey towards college softball scholarships. He served as Athletic Director from 2021-2023.
Moreno attained his Masters of Sports Management degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2021. He and his wife, Meagan, are faithful members of the Northwest Church of Christ in Lawton, where he served as a deacon from 2020-2023.
